How Do I Work?
My process includes working with subject matter experts–the people who know and are responsible for your product or service. I participate in your project’s entire process—design to implementation to sales and support—or just where and when you want that extra help. I ensure accuracy, incorporate feedback, and recommend changes where appropriate. I write and edit using relevant and up-to-date tools and technology. I follow industry-accepted styles (e.g., APA, Chicago, Canadian Press) and/or your individual house style. I am an additional level of quality assurance and reliability testing for your product, service, or website.
What Do I Work On?
Using a variety of skills—researching; writing and rewriting; editing; indexing; proofreading; designing document layout—I work on many types of information and documentation, such as:
• Technical: includes design documents, usability plans, online help, reference guides, and other documentation
• Marketing & Sales: includes web copy, brochures, marketing collateral, RFPs, and training guides
• Textbooks: elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels covering a wide range of topics
• General: includes company reports, research reports, fact sheets, style guides, intranets, and websites
